It’s me and my new 231p2 again.

Going to upgrade the ram to 4gb, would this 4gb crucial be ok??

Don’t think I’ll need 8gb though

I haven't seen a quality brand of RAM that hasn't worked so far.

I'm of the belief that I only want to open up the 'box' once. Upgrade to the highest capacity RAM module it will accept. Never open it again.

Remember when 640MB was going to be enough for anyone, ever?

up to 8gb module per socket will work fine, I run all my qnaps with 2x8gb (SKU paired) corsair and g.skill with zero issues.

Keep in mind that Silvermont/Airmont cores cannot access more than 8GB of RAM.

And dual-channel vs single channel has no difference on those chips, so if you have a 4GB stick in one slot, and a spare, match it - if single slot, an 8GB DIMM is enough.
