The latest beta to QNAP’s NAS operating system enables snapshots on the company’s 10 GbE NAS, the Annapurna Labs quad-core powered TS-1635.

In general, the update adds support for ARM-based systems and lowers memory requirements for snapshots to 1 GB. QTS 4.3.4 allows the SMB targeted TS-1635 to back up its own snapshots, and snapshots from other NAS devices using Snapshot Replica, taking full advantage of the NAS’ sixteen drive capacity.

For more information on the TS-1635 and QTS 4.3.4, check out the QNAP website.

QTS 4.3.3 had snapshot capability already - looks like QTS 4.3.4 makes it more accessible...

Snapshot is available on most x86-based QNAP NAS, but not ARM-based NAS. but since 4.3.4 some ARM-based NAS (with an Annapurna Labs processor and at least 1GB memory) can do snapshot too.
