R7000 wireless range champ

if I compare the test results of Netgear R7000 with other devices including newest $$$ devices, am I right to say that the R7000 beats most of them on 5g RANGE?

well usable range is a tad different to max range , but yes the r7000 wins the max coverage race by a small margin with the tp link archer C9 a close second in my testing

but what sort of range are you after ? as at about 25 meters away in the same house with about 4 walls away your going to get about 20MB/s throughput and a sync of about 234M

While the R-7000 does have great range on 5G. The RT-AC3100 is just as good if not a tad better. Of course every environment is different. I always buy a router and use it until the return period gets close and then i make the choice to keep or return. I returned my 7000 because of lacking Netgear firmware upgrades and the fact IPv6 does not work as intended. Have to say though the R-7000 is a good router hardware wise.

Currently using the R7000 as access point behind my Mikrotik CCR router, with Xvortex firmware at 45% TX. It shure beats other devices so far. Compared with AC87U, AC66U, archer C7 and C9, Engenius ECB1750. In practical use, the R7000 gives me the most stable connection in terms of range. Pretty impressive.

Right now, the R7000 is the best all-around router at my house *smile*. Currently using it with Kong's latest dd-wrt firmware release (29230), and it is doing very well. Better wireless range/coverage than either the WRT1900AC (with dd-wrt or openWRT) and the RT-AC68P that I also have. Great piece of hardware, has been for the last 2.5 years. Still lots of spare bandwidth with the R7000 here. I'm not interested in the latest stuff yet, the clients to take advantage of "wave 2" are just not there yet, which makes it not interesting to me. I'm sure that others will beg to differ with that *smile*, but I'm pragmatic when it comes to spending $$$'s.

There are other third-party firmware releases that work well on the R7000, including XVortex's port of RMerlin's (Asuswrt-Merlin) firmware and tomato ARM. Firmware for this wireless router is mature and stable at this point, which is nice, too. Been through some rocky times couple of years ago, but that's all in the rear view mirror.
