OK, 16GB not available here through Newark...and if your folk ship internationally, can I avoid the VAT? or rather, apply the amount to shipping?

In case the seller is willing to send the goods to you in Canada and they know how to bill the purchase properly - you don't pay VAT.

Exports, sending goods abroad and charging VAT

Find out if VAT is due when you sell, send or transfer goods from Great Britain to outside the UK or from Northern Ireland to outside the UK and EU.

The same is valid the other way around - UK customer doesn't pay Canadian GST/HST for exported goods. They will pay whatever tax is due in the UK. You'll have to pay the Canadian equivalent of this tax when importing goods over specific amount from abroad.

$259.95 + HST > 84 Pounds last I checked...according to the reuters app on my phone, 84 pounds is 156 CAD.
do you see now why I asked? It's about half price.

I'm guessing Farnell has regionality clauses in its distributorships

It's like 10W at idle and has much more processing power.
