Recommended, up-to-date OpenVPN installation and configuration instructions?

New Around Here
Hi guys,

I updated to 378.50 a few days ago on my RT-N66U (thanks for the great work!) and thought it is also time to finally set up OpenVPN, mostly to have a secure internet connection while traveling.

I of course looked at https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Configuring-OpenVPN and the instructions on http://www.howtogeek.com/60774/connect-to-your-home-network-from-anywhere-with-openvpn-and-tomato/ it links to. But they seem to be quite outdated, and since I'm a newbie with OpenVPN, I'd like to make sure I don't make mistakes configuring a newer OpenVPN version than the one available at the time the instructions on howtogeek.com were written up.

It's not the setup wrt the router config I'm talking about (I'm not even there yet :-) ), but setting up the certificates and keys, i.e. what you do on a Windows machine in \Program Files\OpenVPN\easy-rsa , using the latest version of OpenVPN.

I noticed there are new variables in vars.bat, as well as openssl challenge passwords, and other things not mentioned in the tutorial. They might not be relevant to get OpenVPN to work, but since I'm a newbie I can't be sure :-).

So my question is, can anyone recommend a (more) up-to-date set up instructions than the one on howtogeek.com, also geared more toward a newbie, that users of Asuswrt-merlin found useful?

Thanks in advance for any pointers,

Stephan
