rejecting I/O to dead device

    this message Is written over and over in the logs. I have 1 USB hd connected but isn't turned on.
    kernel: scsi 1:0:0:0: rejecting I/O to dead device
    Could someone shed some light

    Look like USB-SATA controller in HDD box hangs up or USB-disk consumes too much power. If this messages will appear in syslog over and over, please consider:
    • to use external power supply for USB-HDD box or…
    • to replace USB-HDD with another one.
