Just going to say yes I read all the information thus far and the you cant go back once updated warnings. But hey this is the internet someone may have done it and how?

I am simply not impressed with performance at all not that the new builds are forthcoming, Not to say Merlinwrt is bad just to say this lock down has caused what was a pretty nice long range WiFi for me to become well 10 steps back into Wireless N speeds again.

Just curious if anyone has as of yet tried to or successfully dumped the latest Locked Firmware back to pre .60

I did it with my devlopment router, a RT-AC66U. Set it into recovery mode and installed 380.59.
Edit: To clarify, I downgraded from 380.61 to .59.
Runs fine but boots a bit slower than before. Especially compared to the second RT-AC66U that never had a higher version than .59.

I did a reset of the router before and for good measure, afterwards.
Then manually configured my settings.

No, I am trying to get rid of it as noted in my original post

That's exactly what the linked post is about: using firmware recovery mode to flash any previous build.
