New Around Here
Hello,

New here. Been reading up on routers for a few hours now and figured I'd ask the forum for advice as well.

I have FiOS service - internet only - at 75/75. I live in a pretty small apartment. My current router is the ActionTec MI424WR Gen3 Rev I.

Over LAN, my devices easily hit/exceed advertised speeds. Wireless ranges anywhere from 30mbps on a good day to 5mbps on a bad day - both up and down. I've done endless troubleshooting trying to get full speed over wifi but I think the router just isn't capable.

I'm reasonably happy with the 75/75 speed and don't plan to upgrade anytime soon. All I'm trying to achieve is full speed over wifi. I have between 6-12 devices connected at any given time, almost all of which are 802.11n 2.4/5GHz. I expect to be purchasing some AC devices in the near future.

I've already switched the router/ONT connection from coax to ethernet, so it's my understanding that I am free to switch to whichever router I want, and do away with the ActionTec completely.

I'm trying to keep the budget around $100, so it seems like the C7 or C8 would be the way to go.

Does anyone have any opinions or feedback for me?

Thanks!
