RT-AC66U reboots during system recovery... then keeps rebooting every 29 seconds

I have habit of not using original adapters. I have 12V, 5 Amp. rated one which I always
use. Had enough of flaky adapters. If I were you in a situation like this adapter is the very first one to eliminate as a possible source of the trouble.

Hi all,

I had a friend visiting US, so I asked her to submitted my router with antennas and power supply to ASUS RMA.

When she received the package back, only the router was returned, the antennas and power supply didn't return. It is amazing.

I cannot express myself how disappointed I am.... I bought one of the expensive routers in the market, I can use it for 2 weeks so it crashed ... when I finally submitted it to RMA they returned it missing parts. More than 3 months and I still cannot use it.

I am not sure when I or a friend will be at USA again... but worst case I would appreciate if you can tell me where I can buy the stock antennas and power supply for rt-ac66u.

I had this problem and solved it after I realized a few things: 1) An ISP tech came by and fiddled with the modem and the router; 2) I had the flu; 3) the modem would drop the DHCP and the router kept rebooting. Walked away from things until I felt better. I then realized that the tech had plugged the power supply for my modem into my router and the power supply for my router into my modem (I have the ASUS RT-AC5300 and the power supply is noticeably different if you pay attention.) The router power supply damaged my modem, so the ISP is suspending my payments for three months so that I can buy a new one (upgrading to DOCSIS 3.1). Router is now working fine.
