RT-AC68U Power switch failure..

I have seen the thread on the RT-N66U power switch failing. Tonight my power switch failed on my AC68U This router is less then a year old WTF.. A $200.00 router dead in less then a year on a $1.00 part unreal. My next router will NOT be a asus..

Back to the N66U until i find and purchase another router.

Have it repaired under warranty.

I have considered that but then i have to pay more money for shipping and probably have the same defective switch put right back in it. I am not sure what i will do with this $200.00 paper weight as of yet. Might just chalk it up as a loss and put the shipping money into a new router. At least i still have my trusty N66U for now.

I have a habit of leaving any equipment on all the time. Very rarely I turn them off. Never had
to toggle power switch frequently. Rather pull the plug.

I've probably turned my router on and off more often than 95% of the users on this forum and my switch is still fine. So just because you got a weak one does not mean that they are systematically all weak.

In fact, I believe it's the first report of an RT-AC68U switch dying - most of them so far were the RT-N66U.

I am not sure what i will do with this $200.00 paper weight as of yet. Might just chalk it up as a loss and put the shipping money into a new router. At least i still have my trusty N66U for now.

Put it up for sale with a disclaimer. I'm sure quite a few wouldn't mind a discounted RT-AC68U and be more than happy to deal with a piece of tape or paper to keep it on It's still a damn nice piece of hardware.

Depending on where you live, its still not gonna be more than 200 bucks to ship it. Also, considering how most big companies "repair" their products, you would most likely get a brand new router instead of your old one with resoldered switch.

Or you could take the whole thing apart and just solder a wire to connect pcb lines. Basically, to make it always switched on.

Honestly that is a shame a 200.00 plus router and the switch breakes.
