Solved RT-AX86U dead WiFi asking for country code?

Thanks a lot Mates, yes i had do a factory reset (power cut) and then it shows ""The Country Code is not exist!"" with 3.0.0.4.388_24243 then I upload (manually) to 3.0.0.4.388_24323 it fix this error. Is this permanent or has Asus not released a patch yet? Every time I do a factory, will this problem return with the latest stock or Merlin version? Giga Apreciated friends!
I believe this is a permanent fix.

I came across this thread after encountering the “The Country Code is not exist!” error on my RT-AX88U. Summary of events:
- Encountered issues with FTP remote access. Attempts to update firmware failed.
- Reset to factory defaults and restored settings. FTP issue fixed. Updated firmware manually, which worked.
- Later that evening I noticed WiFi strength is severely degraded, with multiple dead zones in the house that were fine the day before.
- Tried many troubleshooting step, eventually switched to ISP router and connected the by Ethernet AX88U in AP mode with radios disabled (basically using it as a switch and NAS at the moment).
- Attempting to access the Wireless settings currently gives the error “The Country Code is not exist! Please enter Country Code.” (but only while radios are disabled).

I appreciate the router and symptoms are a bit different, but doesn’t anyone have any idea whether the cause (a corrupt manufacturing partition?) might be the same, and if so, whether there’s any chance of me getting this fixed? Thank you.

It could simply be that some bad blocks appeared in your flash memory which corrupted the filesystem. If you want me to take a look at it send me a direct message.

Hi guys. I´m from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My name is Guilherme and I am with the same problem that most of you said here. My Asus RT-AX86U stop showing wifi SSIDs and stop blinking the led lights. Every other functions are ok. My router is with latest firmware version (FW_RT_AX86U_RT_AX86S_300438824386).

First step is to update to the latest stock Asus firmware for your router, if possible then perform a reboot, sometimes that recovers the router. If you cannot update the firmware to the latest stock Asus firmware then see the malware discussion, a user in there (see this link) is assisting people with recovering their routers that have been damaged by the recent malware.

Good evening. I have an Asus RTAX86U router purchased in Portugal where the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. After moving to Brazil, the Wi-Fi signal lost strength; I can only connect my devices if I'm within 1 to 2 meters of the router. What could be the reason for this? Is there some kind of wireless restriction due to changing countries? Could malware be causing this on the router? I've already tried several Asus and Merlin firmwares, and nothing changes. Currently, I'm using firmware 3004.388.11. @ColinTaylor Can you give an opinion? tks

The RT-AX86U doesn't know what country you're in so it's not because of that. Your screenshot shows the normal output for that router so it doesn't appear to be suffering from the issue discussed in this thread. So it seems likely this is a hardware issue.

If you use a Wi-Fi Analyser app on your phone is the signal strength significantly different between 2.4GHz and 5GHz?

@nutrijorge Post the results of the following
Code:
wl txpwr_target_max

The code I posted returns for all bands. Yes you may want results for each band but I just wanted to see a comparison.

@nutrijorge Your output is correct.

Please do the comparison I suggested on your phone to see if the problem is only effecting one particular band.

Also note that on 5GHz you will get higher power output if you select a fixed channel between 100 and 140. I suggest trying channel 100. You're currently using channel 36.
