RT-BE88U 2.4GHz backward compatibility settings

New Around Here
Can anyone tell me what the most backward compatible 2.4GHz settings are for the Asus RT-BE88U router (Wireless->Professional in the web GUI) for devices that worked with WiFi 6 routers (Asus/Zyxel)? I know that it can work, because I randomly choose the correct settings, but I didn't write them down 🙄 The device is a homewizard P1 meter. I also have a Plugwise P1 meter that does connect to the router with whatever setting I use.

I've disabled wifi7 on my IoT network for all my legacy devices to connect. I tried WPA2/WPA3 with wifi7 and that didn't work.
I think disabling wifi7 on that one network should be enough.

That was the first thing I tried but that didn't work. Here are the settings I'm using now (I thought to be backward enough) but no success

Just to compare, I've added my professional settings for 2.4GHz. I think all I've done is disable roaming assistant and dialed back the power (power would not affect compatibility).

@Ripshod You've enabled two WiFi 7 settings and disabled 2 ax settings if I'm not mistaken...
Yeah. Those settings affect all 2.4 networks, including the main wifi7 ssid. Like I said, the only 2 changes I've manually made (on this page) are to disable roaming assistant and reduce the TX power. I haven't even disabled explicit beamforming, which was standard practice on my old RT-AX88U.

disable roaming assistant and reduce the TX power

This by itself may help a lot resulting in reduced noise and number of disconnections around the edges of coverage area. The default Performance setting on Asus routers cranking the Tx power up to allowed limits if often hurting the performance.

And something else:

If we are talking about Professional settings - give us Professional settings in dBm number for the specific device and region, please! What is Performance and what is Balance for RT-BE92U and for RT-BE88U in the UK or US for example? The same output, different output? Different hardware radios, different dBi antennas, different region - I expect all 4 combinations to have different output. Are you listening, Asus? There is nothing Professional in current settings. It's a guessing game for the user. 🧐

Thanks a lot for your responses! None of your settings worked and I moved on to do a factory reset. I'm not sure where in the setup process this occurred, but I got a special IoT page asking to create a network for legacy devices! That's what I did and it worked 😅.

The asuswrt-merlin firmware survives the factory reset and isn't the cause of connectivity problems (which I intended to rule out next). In the Wireless->Professional page of the managment GUI there is no reference to this special IoT network and I don't know how it's configured nor can I change any settings. It's all very puzzling.

not trying to hijack the thread but i just tested my be88u with merlin 105.0 and my legacy devices except for a couple of wifi extenders (which most likely would need to be re-setup) connected fine to the 2.4ghz band .. the kasa wifi switches , wyze cameras and alexas connected fine..

strangely enough when i tried the be96u with the same settings pretty much same firmware none connected.. i sent it back.. thinking maybe there was a problem with it.. and i did do a reset after flashing merlin.

bt88u and bt96u are not valid models names. Can you use the correct names in your posts please to avoid confusion.
