Hello, looking for some help with my N66U. ive had this router for a year or so now to use for 5GHz game streaming. its been working fine until the last 2 most recent firmware updates. the issue i am having is the router randomly disconnecting. the random disconnects occur in two different fashions.

1 - sometimes all my devices, wired/wireless will loss internet connectivity, or have limited access and loss connectivity to the router. this will happen until i reboot the router.

2 - sometimes only my wireless devices will lose access to the internet or show limited access. my wired devices will still have access to the internet and the router in this state.

ive made sure that my internet was not down when this happens. i also have two router in my network on the same subnet but with different ip pools. i changed the N66U from the main router to an AP and the issue is still occurring. Cant seem to figure it out. Anyone experienced this issue before?

More details needed to understand your situation:
  1. Which firmware do you use (exact version)?
  2. When did you do the last factory reset?
  3. Did you update from an older firmware version to the recent one, or did you follow all releases?

1 - 3.0.0.4.378_9313-g53ab20f
2 - right before this version was released. maybe a few months now.
3 - followed all releases

Those are compilation date, they have nothing to do with the clock. They simply indicate when they were compiled.

so what could be the issue im having. i figured its only with this router that im having the issue with. my Cisco RV110W doesn't have the disconnect issues.

I think this line is the hint....I'm not sure where, but in the ASUS OEM firmware some 'runaway' logs got introduced that are eating up tmpfs. Next time it hangs, telnet/ssh to the router and enter

df

and post the output. You can also try one of Merlin's latest alpha builds where I think all the known log issues are addressed.

so this morning when i woke up i couldnt connect to my router. looked at my wireless connection and noticed that the default asus and asus5g connections were there. i havent made any changes to my router yet. not sure what has happened. can some point me to the area where i can download merllins firmware. ive had enough with the asus firmware and its random issues. thanks.
 
I always used lower 5GHz channel on the 66U when I used it as otherwise I would have disconnect issues.

Best channel I found to use was 36.
 
I'm seeing the same issue as you, MKP, only I'm using channel 36. I was using the latest Merlin build previously, but had wireless issues with that firmware as well. :(

Next time this happens, I'll telnet in and run "df" to see how much disk space is free.
 
Heh, on a somewhat related note, I spotted this in the latest Asus firmware notes:

My LTE connection keeps dropping out whenever I'm doing any intensive downloading using Internet Download Manager. Not sure if this is related

Also seeing this in syslog

Any suggestions on how this can be fixed or if there is anything else that can cause my LTE do drop out?
