Hello everyone,
I have an RT-N66U as my router for FIOS (75/35 Mbps). We do a lot of video streaming to Tivos & iPads, which until recently worked well. However, yesterday my wife complained that Netflix on her iPad kept stopping.
I ran speediest.net and found that the speed of 5Ghz DOWNLOAD connections had dropped by 2/3, yet the UPLOAD speeds were unchanged, e.g., download 23 mbps and upload 38 mbps. For comparison, connecting via another 5 ghz access point on my LAN, I get download 80 mbps and upload 38 mbps. (The speed for the ASUS' 2.4 Ghz connection are unchanged).
I haven't made any configuration changes, and am running Merlin's firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.38_2. I tried unplugging the router and then plugging it back in, checking antenna adjustment, and checking for overheating. Also checked to see if the neighbors might have come online with a new router that might be interfering with mine (nope).
So, I'm stumped. Could it be some kind of hardware failure? I welcome any suggestions for diagnosing or solving this problem.
Thanks for your help,
Steve
