Saving traffic history to USB

Steelstar

Occasional Visitor
Hi All. Was messing up with options of this great firmware. As to traffic history, putting under 'custom location' /jffs/ seems to work, but not if I use /mnt/sda1/ with a USB device. Is there anything else I should do?
Thanks for helping

That should work. Just use the select button to chose a location on the device.
Also toggle 'Create or reset data files:' to yes before clicking Apply.

If I select "Choose a location" I get this "/mnt/USB_DISK/". Should I create a directory like "sda1" or anything that I like?

If AC power is disconnected without before disconnecting USB device, do data get corrupted?
I suppose that using jffs is more difficult to get data corrupted.
But I don't know how I could backup that data.

Thanks for helping.

If you have set 'Save frequency:' to one hour and the power loss is at exactly that time during writing you will lose data.

Do you think it is better to use jffs or USB for traffic data?
I read that installing new firmware could wipe jffs partition so all data there could be lost.

Again, thanks for your replies.

jffs is absolutely ok to use as long as you back the data up before an update.
I use my USB disk to store the for convenience reasons.

Login with an ssh client and download is how I do it.
