In my ever on-going complaints with Comcast, I want to see if there is a way to automate the speedtest (and capturing of the data) from the router. I was looking to try and use the logic/code that was already in place, but don't think that's gonna be possible.
I have (or at least PAY FOR) 1G service from Comcast (1G down/35M up). Just about every night, there is a huge drop off in service. Jitter goes crazy and the packet loss spikes. (See sample below) Of course the 'geniuses' at comcast can't seem to understand and after many technicians coming out and checking my line for issues, It's still there. When it happens, I jump on the router page, and run speedtests, then have to ssh to the router to download the 'ookla_history' file. The file only saves 50 and roles over.
So I'm thinking of how I could automate this...via cron, etc.. so that it runs the speedtest at a pre-determined time. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas/suggestions.
