scMerlin scMerlin 2.5.20 - Service and script control menu for Asuswrt-Merlin

I know you said you did a hard fresh but maybe some kinda cache thing? If you ever notice it again try in a private browser window, if it still continues re-report it :)
I don't think it was cached files - three different browsers across three machines. Who knows, I have that many addons installed......

I was thinking after the reboot I mean, if you rebooted it would of re-mapped all the user .asp files in the menutree.js file.

If it still was weird after that point it was probably cache? Did you retest every device after the reboot?

Of course, S.O.P for me with these kinds of events. Clearing cache was done before reboot on all three browsers on all three devices, and after the reboot three browsers on two machines, before I tried the direct address.
Just one of those things.

Very odd indeed. I'll keep my eye out for this, but just happy to know it's working.

Really my only goal tonight if I can will be the index.asp or "Network Map" page for 3006 firmware. If I can great, otherwise I'll just submit the PR and tag-in the pro's like Martinski and thelonelycoder and see what they can find.

Apparently, the update scenario (i.e., download, launch and force update) does not work on 3006.102 WiFi 6 and 3004 — clean install does in fact return that string.
Not to add to the mystery, but 🤔
Was already on 2.5.10, downloaded 2.5.20, launched and immediately did a force update (UF), worked on the AX88u and both AX86u's and do get the expected response 🤷‍♂️
Worked/Working for me...

But when launching it the first time via AMTM/J3, something scrolled by so quickly I couldn't capture it, even after 3 tries 🤦‍♂️

Hi @aex.perez

No mystery, if you "scroll up" in Putty you can read it. It's just the green text to confirm it's been patched in my original message here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/s...asuswrt-merlin-march-2-2025.89224/post-955165
It's not important enough to add a stop for. Might even remove it completely once testing is complete.

Thanks for confirming all is functional!

Spoke to soon, somehow it messed with the ntpMerlin config, Time stopped synching and in scMerlin NTPD started when selecting 8 in scMerlin
Had to set it to NTP, then Chrony and save the config both times in ntpMerlin, then the 8 option in scMerlin and chronyd started up and Time began synching again. 🤷‍♂️

Fixed now!

Sounds unrelated to anything I've done... I won't be checking into other issues for scMerlin, I gotta draw the line or I would at it all day re-writing stuff and over stepping.
I only did this one since Martinski mentioned he couldn't. But hopefully he as a better idea of what happened to your ntpMerlin

I only mention it because it was fine before, but not after. I don't believe it did either, but for giggles I tried to restart Timeserver (ntpd/chronyd) on one of the nodes
and correctly recieved "Invalid selection (NTP server not enabled/installed)".
Just being thorough ;)

You might want to check just the same, I selected option 8 to reset the time service, a few times already (5x in the last two hours), since I had the issue at 20:00, and though I would normally see the restarts in the ntp.log. There's been noting in the log since the initial trouble.

Some additional testing:
Had to UF ntpMerlin, the after clearing out/removing the NTP log and reconfigure again (NTP then chrony). Even restarted scribe to make it was starting up OK. The only way to restart chrony was via ntpMerlin, and then it came up and populated the log. Via scMerlin option 8 to restart the time service, the log never poulated, as it used to 🤷‍♂️

In the AM, I'll do a reboot of the router and see if that fixes any dependecies from the upgrade of the script form .10 to .20 and allows scMerlin to reset the time service.

I would recommend you just downgrade and confirm.

That's in my back pocket if it still give me the issue after the reboot. Wondering if the NTP Ready startup check and/or the NTP boot watchdog script might be influencing the results, but that's for tomorrow ;)

I lied, that was too easy, uninstalled 2.5.20, reinstalled 2.5.10. Restarted the timeservice (8) from scMerlin. Like before, it worked and populated the log

I touched nothing with the script itself; so any core scMerlin functions are identical to 2.5.10
I don't use ntpMerlin and have really no idea what the issue is your talking about.

Downgrade; confirm if the issue still exists, if it does theres your proof, if not; upgrade again. Confirm if the issue comes back.
If it does after you downgrade and return; I'll check then.

Well, it works now ;), the difference being I uninstalled version 2.5.10 and then installed 2.5.20, then performed a UF, enabled the watchdog and boot scripts and then reset the timeservice and sure enough the timeservice restarted, restarting chrony, and populating the ntp.log like before.

What I did originally is just the upgrade/install over .10 and UF from the script. Obviously that didn't work correctly.
@visortgw also posted about having to uinstall .10 before installing .20 to have it work correctly though I did get the string with upgrading and a UF vs a fresh install and a UF. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah thanks for confirming that it sounds unrelated to my changes once you downgraded and upgraded again. Something existing with the upgrade process probably? Either way as we discussed; it's not something I have the knowledge or motivation to look into at the moment but maybe Martinski will look into it

I investigated these reports about the "Network Map" page or "index.asp" page below and believe I found the problem and should be now solved;

The problem I'm seeing with the latest version is clicking on either "Network Map"
For me the dropdowns stay on until I click on "Network Map"

Below is the command to download my copy to your router:
Code:
curl --retry 3 "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ExtremeFiretop/scMerlin/refs/heads/master/scmerlin.sh" -o "/jffs/scripts/scmerlin" && chmod 755 "/jffs/scripts/scmerlin"

If you are doing a "FRESH" install; you will need to also run:
Code:
sh /jffs/scripts/scmerlin install

Otherwise if it's an upgrade from an existing install; you will need to launch scMerlin from amtm (option j3)
Then run a force update (option uf)

I tested on both 3004 and 3006 firmware. Let me know.

I see a slightly different, but new, anomaly on 3006 WiFi 7. On initial launch, there are no dropdowns. I need to select/click on any menu item other than Network Map in order to activate dropdowns. Thereafter, Network Map does not kill dropdowns.

Testing 3006 WiFi 6 and 388 shortly...

  1. 3006 WiFi 6 exhibits exactly the same behavior as I described for 3006 WiFi 7 above.
  2. 3004.388 is unchanged from previous version.

I did forget an important step which is that you must always uninstall the previous dev version first. So to test an upgrade you either install the production version first after the uninstall, or to test a clean install just run the install command. But in any case you must always do an uninstall of the previous version first.

For me, no observable changes from previously reported issues on my Gt-AX6000 with the 3006.102.4 version.
