Hi. I have upgraded to latest beta 3 firmware for my AX88U, but the router doesn't recognise the usb anymore. Running firewall command brings me this:

Skynet: [*] USB Not Found - Sleeping For 10 Seconds ( Attempt 1 Of 10 )

Any help would be appreciated.

Look in the router's System Log for error messages indicating what the problem is with the USB drive.

USB was somehow corrupt. Format, reinstallad, created a new swap and reboot.
USB was unmounted before in the main panel, not its showing the usage. When I click on it, I see usage and so on, but under Firewall no Skynet.
When running the option firewall from ssh,

But its freshly installed?

Can you test with another USB drive? This one may be shot.

after you reformat the USB drive
uninstall and re-install skynet

firewall uninstall

then re-run the re-installation script

Tried it on windows, everything seems ok. I happened after the update to beta 2. I have order a new one for the router and will test it out tomorrow.

A strange thing happened when installing skynet and creating swap. My CPU usage was high, which was to be expected, but my free ram usage when from 250 to 30MB.

Changed usb, formated to fat32. Installed skynet, but it didn't ask for swap creating. Still not working, the same error, USB not found.

Does the skynetloc parameter in /jffs/scripts/firewall-start match your USB path? Might be easiest to rm /jffs/scripts/firewall-start and then reinstall.

Thank you :)

I have added another usb 16gb and formatted it properly with amtm (ext4) and installed it. Working now.

Something like this happened to me a few times.
Now I've noticed that the USB key is mapped sometimes as /dev/sda and some other times as /dev/sdb

At least in the last event this was the reason for Skynet to fail startup,
As Skynet was installed with the USB mounted in /dev/sda, the configuration was explicitly pointing to locations in /dev/sda, however a restart of the router remapped for unknown reasons the USB to /dev/sdb, thus Skynet was not able to find anymore the install dir and the swap.

I could restore Skynet without reinstalling, just changing the configuration.

Hint for maintainers:
While I don't know the reason* why the USB seems to roam from sda to sdb and back at restarts, I think that there could be some margins for improvements in detecting the correct install directory, maybe it could be achieved leveraging a symbolic link created at USB mount time like the one in /tmp/opt (which always points to the correct installation directory of entware) and change the default configuration to use the symbolic link.

* roaming could be due to a number of reasons, including slow USB mounting, an fsck, etc...

I didn't have any problems with the new one so far. It's a bit too much with 16GB, but it works.

The drive mapping changing is a well know issue (and applies to Linux boxes generally not just this router). That is why it is recommended that people put a volume label on their devices rather then leave them unlabelled. That way the router always mounts the device with the same path, e.g. /tmp/mnt/VERBATIM.
