Statistics Only Recording About A weeks worth of data

Hey all,

I have an Asus AXE-16000 with latest Merlin and I am having a problem with statistics.

It seems to only be recording a weeks worth of data when I switch to monthly statistics. It's set to record to USB under tools. I've formatted the USB stick, reset files, turned off all tracking under "traffic analyzer"to no avail. Also when I reset everything, web history locks up the user interface for a very long time. This is on a fresh factory reset...

Thanks for and info you can provide.

This is unrelated to Traffic Analyzer Statistic. The section in Tools is for Traffic Monitor.

Ok, so....

That aside, is there something that is bugged, broke, set wrong?

In the past if you wanted the statistic data to persist thru a reboot, you had to download Merlin and set this setting under tools because otherwise it was saved in volatile memory and be reset after the reboot.

If we are talking about Traffic Analyzer Statistic - something upstream is broken with Trend Micro components. There are reports for this not working properly on different model routers on different stock Asuswrt versions. Seems like nothing you can fix on your end. Wait for firmware update.

Until the update... if you can reach that pendrive on the LAN, you can save it periodically? :/

Statistic history is saved on the router, not on a USB drive. Trend Micro service, closed source.

Does the statistic then reset with a router reboot or will it be stored somewhere so its unaffected by a reboot?

Traffic Analyzer data will be saved to JFFS and will survive reboot.

So:
Traffic Analyzer > Traffic Monitor if set in tools > other settings > custom location = to USB = Saved to USB and survives reboot
Traffic Analyzer > Statistics (TrendMicro) always saved to JFFS = Survive Reboot
Traffic Analyzer > Web History (TrendMicro) always save to JFFS = Survive Reboot
Traffic Analyzer > Bandwidth Monitor always live, no history to save.

Yes, but none of the above is very accurate. You may see differences between Traffic Analyzer, Traffic Monitor and what the ISP actually registered as traffic.

That's ok. Just want more of generalization anyways. Just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly, as I'm still having a problem with "statistics" not being stored for more than week or so... Just wanted to make sure it wasn't my reboots causing this.

I would say buggy unreliable Trend Micro bloatware in Asuswrt. You may find your router working much better without it.

Is there a way to remove it?

Disable the AiProtection feature and make sure to Withdraw from it on the Administration > Privacy page (or Policy page on 3.0.0.6.102_x firmware).

No need to disable anything. Withdrawal the Trend Micro data sharing agreement stops all Trend Micro services.
