Stupid question about the RT-BE88U

Hello,

Just a stupid question really. My Box is 1GB/60MB. I just bought to try it out an Asus RT-BE88U. I wonder why I cannot connect my ethernet cable to the 10GB open slot of the router ? If I do, I have no connection. I have to plug the ethernet cable to the 2.5GB WAN/LAN1 slot and then it works right away.
Sorry another stupid question. When I first configured the router, I could configure the IOT network using the same password than the 2.4GHz network. I started over and configured only the 5 and 2.4GHz networks. Then I wanted to add the IOT network but it doesn't let me use the " ' " character, the same character I use in the other passwords. So one time I can use it, the other time, I cannot...
Oh, sorry, another stupid question and that's it. Do we agree that if I do a factory reset, I have to either be in the same subnet than the router once it has rebooted to connect to it using the WiFi, or use an ethernet cable to connect to it and configure it ?

OK I will have a go; very quick answers to all three. Hoepfully someone will correct me where I fall down...

I do not have your Router but my 30s guess would be check this, under WAN, Dual WAN.

No idea on that one, but what security do you use? IIRC, you can only use hexadecimal characters (0-9 and A-F) with WEP (TBC). Otherwise I believe "'" is actually allowed.

It should be accessible on 192.168.50.1 but whether you can get to that from another subnet will depend on how you configured the Router that is running the DHCP, what IP address it has and what permissions you give that subnet (and make sure it is not ALSO on 192.168.50.1 but maybe 192.168.50.5 or something).

I personally just use a LAN cable from a Notebook to a LAN Port and go to asusrouter.com; avoids a lot of hassle (disable ALL Wifi on the Notebook first).

No such animal. Lack of knowledge is always allowed.

1) what are you trying to connect to with the 10Gbit port ? WAN ? Does it have that option in config ?

2) IOT devices may not like special characters in the connecting to the radio. ASUS IOT network does not allow. i believe ASUS has a FAQ or user guide that states this.

3) IF you want to configure the router after a factory reset , the device you are using to connect for router setup has to be in the default IP address subnet range. Quick Start guide should describe the options for setup via LAN cable or via APP over wifi.
