Currently one major reseller in Finland has a good BF offers on the plus series models... 🤑

So thinking to update our DS412+ (4*3TB, raid 5) that after 13 years of use has just under 6 TB in use...

Thinking to get 2 bigger HDD's (10 - 14TB) in our new system and use them in RAID 1.
Now as DS725+ and DS425+ are sold at same price (420 EUR) I'm primarily wondering which one?
(DS225+ is 300 EUR and a solid option too...)

Usage is data storage, Photo server & Video server. (Have 1GB network in our house and no need for faster either)
So basic home network use.... and no intentions to open any ports to the WAN in future either.

So which one would you prefer?

DS425+

Why?
4-bay (but not expansion option)
Intel CPU (might be better for video playback)

None of the X25 units have H256 video playback decode. Both rely on client H256 CODEX playback. I think H264 is still available on both units.

I think new DSM allows 3rd party HDD for either model. (Suggest Checking this to be sure).

both feature dual RJ-45 network ports, including one 2.5GbE port and one 1GbE port
