Purchased a Trendnet TEW 673GRU from Newegg on super sale and flashed with DD-WRT. I configured it identically to the WRT54Gl which I have been using as a wireless client bridge for quite some time.
I can'r reliably get on the internet with this router as the bridge etc. Upon first reboot, I can load one web page then everything else times out. I can reliably ping the router downstairs and map drives from my laptop but no internet beyond pulling up one or two web pages when the bridge Trendnet first reboots.
Put the WRT54GL back on and everything runs fine, internet access upstairs, and SMB file transfers at around 900 kb/s
Any suggestions on what is going on? Bad Trendnet Router, a config issue on the trendnet as a bridge?
Config
Downstairs:
E4200 with stock firmware broadcasting on 2.4 and 5 ghz same SSID
Upstairs
Trendnet TEW-673GRU with DDWRT configured as client bridge
- can access file shares on other computers and ping gateway router
- Unreliable internet access (seems to time out after first web page comes up)
- 2.4ghz connects with all of the above symptoms
WRT54Gl
- Works fine just slowly as client bridge with DD WRT
