Try The Router Chooser

I've been working on a new product research tool to complement the existing stable of Charts, Finders and Rankers.

The Router Chooser is aimed at helping non-technical consumers select a router, primarily based on performance.

The neat trick it brings to the table is that it provides performance information for any router, not just the ones we have tested. It does this by determining the router's class, then presenting a range of performance for that class.

It also shows how the router's class compares to the performance range of all routers we have tested (all classes).

Since there are still kinks to work out and features to add, I'm letting you folks have first crack at it to help guide and prioritize development.

Access it at http://chooser.smallnetbuilder.com and log in with demo / demo.

Please post feedback here and don't hold back!

Worked fine for me.

Looked up a few routers both by manufacture and price range and for the target audience of noobs it provides the pertinent information/ recommendation that they would want to choose a new router.:D

Could you try a few routers that we haven't tested and see if they get classed properly or if the Chooser barfs. Thanks.

I looked up two obscure routers I found listed on Everbuying.com

The first Alfa AWUSO36H

When I entered Alfa it found an Alfa router but not the one I was looking for.
When I entered the model number I'm not sure it returned information about the product I wanted information about.

The second EDUP EPWR2603

When I entered the manufacture EDUP it came back with a single product but it was not the one I was looking for.

When I entered the model number it came back with the correct product but very little information.

Hope this helps you test your data base.

Good test, Captain. Those were weird ones! I am amazed Amazon had them.

I only grab enough info from Amazon to create a basic product entry and attempt to class it (N150, N300, etc) so that I can display product performance information.

I deleted the Alfa product because it wasn't really a router. For the two EDUPs, I properly classed them and cleaned up the entries a little so that the titles aren't so long.
