Using Iomega Home Media Network Drive without router

New Around Here
I was wondering if it was possible to use this NAS without a router (either directly plug it into computer or through a switch).
I would like to do this because my router does not support gigabit ethernet and its in another room.

I was thinking of buying a gigabit router but thoes are quite expensive. I am guessing a switch wouldn't do so could I just plug it in? What would I have to change for windows to recognize it?

Thanks

You can buy a small Gigabit switch and connect it to your router. The router would serve DHCP through this new switch without problem.
