Hi,
Recently I tried to kernsafe - free version of ISCSI target on Windows 8.1 as NAS. What I noticed is that when using ISCSI it does not matter if you are using many small files or one bigger file. Performance stays the same in copy to NAS. Copy from NAS performance is little bit slower with small files.
As I see from NASPT, small files perform much worse even 3x slower! Why is that?
Maybe there is smallnetbuilder article that explains that.
And one more thing. If I share VHDX file mounted on Windows 8.1 it performs >10% faster than physical. Any ideas why is that? Caches? Anything?
Thank you!
