VPN settings does not "stick

ATJ

New Around Here
Hello all you clever people. I need help

Router: ASUS RT-BE92U
Newest version of Asuswrt-Merlin firmware (3006.102.5) and tried also previous version

Problem:
When I change a setting on the VPN/VPN Client page and press "apply" the page is refeshing but all settings are back to default. Nothing sticks.
If I try to upload a .ovpn file (under import .ovpn file It is working for a second, then reports "complete" but no settings changed and no text was added (in "server addres" or "custom configuration" etc. It is just reverting back to default without even pressing "apply"

I tried Different firmware (102.5 and 102.4)
I factory reset several times and also changed back to original Asus firmware before installing Asuswrt-Merlin again

System log report only: "openvpn: Resetting VPN client 1 to default settings"

Can anybody help ? I am not network specialist but I have used Asus-wrt-Merlin for 10 years without problem with old ASUS router generally without problem.

Clear your cache and/or try a different browser and/or try a different PC?

Hello,

Thank you for suggestions. I tried them all and hereby update:
Cleared EVERYTHING in browser (cache, cookies, password etc)
Changed browser "Chrome -> edge"
Used old laptop never used to access router

It kind of helped. I was able to get some setting to stick but only the first time. Next time I tried to change things, I wasn't able to get new setting to stick and I was also never able to change to a new "client". So for example I wanted to change some settings I would change to client 2 but it just kept reverting back to client 1

Also I got some TLS connection error and wasn't able to change the settings so couln't fix it.

In desperation I tried ASUS firmware and Voila, it works 100%

I wanted to use Merlin because of VPN and ability to assign some devices to VPN and some without VPN. Didn't know the ASUS original firmware allows for that now and it works like a charm so actually all my problems solved.

Thanks again for suggestions. Wouldn't have thought about it myself.
