What is the security risk of DDNS?

BE86U WAN-DDNS page displays a warning:

*Make sure you're careful with online security when you enable DDNS and allow services to be accessible over the Internet. Take time to enhance security for your router and services, and keep your router's and devices' software up to date."

What would be the actual security risk of running the custom script for a free Dynu DDNS ? I do not really see how this could be exploited.

I don't think there's any risk with DDNS itself. It's more the fact that by implication you're using it to access publicly available services on your router or on your LAN. It is those services that pose a risk.

... and allow services to be accessible over the Internet.
