Why do AC68U repeaters not report IP's? (AX11000 does)

So this is, again, odd.

I have an AC68U repeater. Works great. But it does NOT report client IP's through to the AC5300 main.
I have an AX11000 repeater (don't ask why it's not main). Also works great. And it DOES report client IP's through to the AC5300 main.

Any ideas why?

slight update - some (wireless devices on repeater) are reporting as wired, but they come and go (inconsistent).
