Why would an unmanaged switch have an IP and MAC?

So in the process of dealing with some other network issues, I was setting up some dhcp reservations. Then I noticed that one of the etherswitches on my network has a MAC and its own IP. It is also showing connection to some foreign IP's. I have tired to connect over port 80, SSH and telnet. No luck. It responds to pings, also the IP falls within my DHCP block but does not show up as in use.

I could be jumping at shadows but right now I am not happy. I want to yank it off the network, but I also want to know WTF it is doing.

What are the first 6 digits of the MAC address?
What is the manufacturer and model number of the unit?
