New Around Here
This is great. And I have an issue to report with an older router.
The WNDR4500v2.
Heres the deal. Now I'm only going to use the first few numbers in firmware revisions.
Ive had this for over 5 years and its always performed well. Until last summer.
Well until update to ver. 1.0.0.72.
It would drop connection and not re establish till a reboot. Randomly 2 or 4 times a day or go two days. I never knew if I would have internet.
Way back when there was a fix for this. In ver. 1.0.0.54.
Seems that all versions after ver. 1.0.0.54 are affected.
It was as if whoever did subsequent updates started with a version prior to 1.0.0.54 and thus left out the drop connection fix.
Anyhow being fed up with it for a year, I had ordered a R7800 due in tomorrow.
I figured the problem out a day after I ordered the new router and the problem is gone.
I flashed the older firmware 1.0.0.54 and working great now.
I even tested it by powering down the modem and the router connected right back up.
It would not do that before. It would have to be restarted as well.
I know its old hardware but alot of people still use it and its a great router.
And Im keeping it now.

So maybe if its still supported, a new version to add the 1.0.0.54 fix should be added to a new firmware revision to really fix it. With this old version any security fixes are not there and would be nice to take care of it.

There are talks about this issue on many forums. Just don't know how many people figured it out.
See what you can do.
Thanks
