XT8 - mesh - hidden network mirroring the wireless backhaul connections?

I see the same thing on my XD4

i'm giving up trying to figure this out and chalking it up to asus router weirdness as it doesn't really seem to be affecting anything.

i'm not gonna test this assumption but maybe by activating smart connect these phantom networks would go away? i'm not using smart connect, i've assigned 3 different SSIDs to the 3 bands.
