I'm assuming Merlin's build is based upon this release, based upon the version number, so I'll stick with his. I'm enjoying my cron jobs.

Merlins build is based on older code, I expect he will release a new .372 version when time permits. This build fixes the AI cloud vulnerability.

I just uploaded it and I can confirm the ping issue with wired clients is resolved.

Merlin posted in Asuswrt-Merlin forum that this release is based on newer code than his 372 release. He is busy at work so even after Asus releases the source code it will be a couple of weeks at the earliest before he can update his version.

Nope. As of 4:30pm EDT today, the most recent firmware I see on the RT-AC66U when I select "Windows 7, 64bit" or "Windows 8, 64bit" is still 3.0.0.4.354. I have to select literally any other OS than "Windows 7, 64bit" or "Windows 8, 64bit" to see or download 3.0.0.4.372 Weird. Think I will hold off for now as I am running Windows 7, 64bit.

The firmware release has nothing to do with the operating system, only the utilities

Got it. Why do you suppose Asus appears to have gone out of their way to specifically not have the new firmware 3.0.0.4.372 available under "Windows 7, 64bit" and "Windows 8, 64bit"?

Probably a mistake from their webteam I suppose.

I always went to "Others" myself whenever looking for FW or GPL updates, so no idea if that's the norm or just unusual.

This is the first time I have run stock firmware since purchasing my AC66u, it seems so stripped down compared to Merlin's , it will be a long two weeks :(

Well, as of 6:17pm EDT, if you click on "Others" the 3.0.0.4.372 firmware is not there either.

It still shows for me. Could be they have a cluster of servers and not all of them are up-to-date.

Yep. 3.0.0.4.372 shows for me me, too, now, under all OS's and Others. When I check for updates from within the RT-AC66U menu screen it still shows 3.0.0.4.354 as being the latest version. I guess that will change after a little while, too. Thanks to the OP for the heads up on this.

It's the other way around. My 372 code is two months old. This release from Asus has much newer code.

Please feedback on the 5GHz on this firmware, since it's using the newer wireless drivers based on the changelog :D Thanks

Reload the page. I had the same problem. As soon as I reloaded the page I could then see the 372 firmware version. Another solution is to clear the cache for whatever browser you are using.

    New ASUS .372 driver test.
So far my experience with this driver has been negative. I have a certain location that I test from so that I can easily compare changes. Model used is RT-AC66U at 5GHz with a Killer Wireless N 1103 Notebook adapter. Using inSSIDer and downloading from my NAS.
.354 driver Signal strength -48 dBm
.372 driver Signal strength -56 dBm
This signal drop was consistent at other locations in the house. I went back to .354 and the signal went back to -48 dBm. The new .372 driver drops the signal about 8 dBm.
Downloading large 8GB file from my NAS. Version .354 was 24 MB/s, switched to .372 it was 19 MB/s. Tried this 5 times with each build and it was consistent.
Merlin's current 372_2 build performed the same as .354
Note: iPad 2 connects to 5GHz with .354 but will not connect with Asus .372. All three of my kids complained that the Internet was choppy and slow on there iPods and iPhones when I was testing the new .372 driver. When I switch back to .354 or Merlin .372_2 build everything was back to normal.
I recommend staying with build .354 or Merlin build .372_2
    Thanks!
