I have a 1.5TB USB 3.0 disk partitioned with GPT which has two Mac HFS+ partitions and one NTFS partition. Merlin can see and mount all three when I plug the drive into the USB 2.0 port on my RT-56U but not when I plug the drive into the USB 3.0 port. I am running Merlin 380.59. I noticed this same problem on 380.58.

I can successfully mount a FAT32 flash drive on the USB 3.0 port so I am pretty sure the hardware is working fine.

I see these kind of errors in the log when it tries to mount the GPT disk on the USB 3.0 port:

Jul 14 12:18:46 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 98
Jul 14 12:18:46 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:18:48 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:18:51 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:18:53 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:18:55 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:18:58 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 103
Jul 14 12:18:58 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:19:00 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
Jul 14 12:19:03 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 105
Jul 14 12:19:03 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1

Any ideas why USB 3.0 behaves differently than USB 2.0? Obviously by NAS performance would suffer greatly using USB 2.0.

Thanks

I got it working by following Merlin's advice from another thread.

"Disable the USB 3.0 interference option under Wireless 2.4 GHz -> Professional."

Now, why does this make a difference? And why is this setting in such an obscure location?

Thanks!
