New Around Here
I am looking for an inexpensive NAS for home use (single drive) with the capability of getting shutdown when an attached UPS senses a power failure.

So far I have seen mention of this capability on the:
Buffalo Technology LinkStation Live LS-CHL, and
Synology DS109.

Please let me know if the above units work as advertised,
if there are other home NAS with this capability,
I am also interested in BYOD Enclosures.

Thanks
John

(P.S. A hackable linux box might be fun to play with after a couple of years.)

There are many NASes that support this feature via USB. All QNAP and Synologies, most Buffalos, Iomegas, NETGEAR ReadyNASes, etc.

Thanks, I will look at these other brands also. I think the ability to monitor power status from an UPS is an important feature even for SOHO environments and I have not seen this capability well advertised.
