no-auth dnsmasq option

Based on the lack of response thus far, is it safe to assume that there is probably no critical reason why this is disabled? If so, I can build with the option turned off and test it out... Any feedback would be helpful and appreciated!

Hey, did you manage to compile the dnsmasq with auth enabled?
I was trying to setup an auth dns and I should have started with
Code:
dnsmasq --ver
and save myself like two hours of head-scratching...

Actually does anyone knows why the dnsmasq is compiled with no-auth?

I guess there is some security reasons about it.
I've enabled the option for dqnsmasq and compiled the firmware, but I'm not brave enough (and I don't have a spare router if this one goes south) to flash it.
So I've extracted just the executable file and I've been playing with it on the router (RT-AC66U btw). It seems to work, all auth-* options are recognized and it binds on the right interfaces but for some reason I can't get any answer from it when I try to talk to it from outside of my network. I'll continue experimenting, I hope it will work on some point.
