Ah yes, Asus (and WiFi in general) marketing. Yes I have large home yes, but not overly so. The AX88U doesn’t reach all areas well, as it has penetrate 2 floors of a brick house. I also have about 70 devices, like doorbells which need a decent connection.
Hi. I have an AX88U operating in AP mode and Ai. With an XT9 and XD4plus connected to it with Ethernet backhaul.
I also have another XT9 in my garage, but no Ethernet there (also tried powerline adapter, but terrible speeds). So the one uses the 5Ghz backhaul channel.
The issue I have is that...
Hi, my current setup is as follows (all in AP mode, connected to Omada router)…
Main unit is an AX88U with 3 XD4’s as nodes. 2 are wired backhaul, 1 is wireless backhaul (in my garage) that uses one of the other XD4’s.
One of the XD4’s is dead and needs to be replaced.
I’m thinking of...
I have an Asus AX88U, 2 XD4’s and an XD4+. Set up in wireless AP mode only. Merlin on the AX88U, stock on the rest (don’t think Merlin is available for the XD4’s anyway).
The XD4’s are connected to the AX88U via Ethernet, apart from one of them in my garage.
The problem I have is that the...
Yes, only went with this one because it does dual wan so well for the money, it’s been faultless and far better than the Asus I had before that cost 6x more.
I should probably look into getting an Omada controller then as well do you think?
Does anyone have this router, or know enough about it, to tell me is there is a way to manually set the DNS for either an individual device or range of IP’s?
Every router I have had allows this function via the DHCP settings. In this router I can only see it available to set globally per WAN.
Yes, it’s broken in this firmware. I did roll back for a while but I’ve given up now. I bought a TP Link ER605 and it’s rock solid. Slightly easier to set up to with IP groups.
AX88U is now just an Ai Mesh AP now. My home network has never been so reliable.
Thanks. The confusion for me regarding DCHP was that as I use IP groups to route specific devices though specific WAN interfaces Im not sure how that would work if the Asus was handing out IPs to those devices, plus if there would be a conflict.
But yes, so far the TPlink is doing a decent job...
Although it suggested above that the ASUS issues were with its LAN ports, I do like the TPlink and may stick with it.
As for option 2, I have never used two routers like this before. Which router is best to run DCHP on etc?
