I use one AC5300 as my main routers with 2 AC1900Ps as ai mesh nodes. They are connected wirelessly and all seems to work well. Definitely has provided much better wifi coverage in my 2 story 3500 sq foot house. Can't speak to connecting them by ethernet. But, can't help but think that would...
For me, it is better wifi coverage throughout my house..... One ssid to connect to...... One point of router management, simplifying administration of the system. Downside for me is that, as of yet, guest network does not propagate to the nodes and can only be accessed from the main router...
I am running aemesh with one rt ac5300 as the main router and two rt ac1900p units as mesh nodes. It works well for me. No major issues. I pretty much have run it with default settings. The nodes connect wirelessly to the main router.
Now, I know that many of you dislike the idea of accessing the router through the app. But, this firmware update restores that function that was lost with the previous firmware version. After this update, and without factory resetting, I can sign into the router with the android app.
Since updating to this firmware, I no longer can connect to the router thru the android asus router app. Authentication fails. I can connect fine thru a web browser on my phone or thru other network apps. Everything else seems fine... aimesh etc.
Correct...... I think some have rebooted the router to fix this.... I have not as my mesh network seems to be working well and I don't want to booger it up.... I did send feedback to ASUS....
