Ac86U wifi dropouts and slow wifi

Hi guys,

i have an ac86u running the latest merlin firmware. I get frequent dropouts on(I believe its the 5ghz channel) and I’ve had it where I have to restart the router to get it back. I recently did a nuclear reset and minimum and mininal settings, running Fresh Jr QoS and standard diversion only.

I also only get about 220mbps max on 5GHZ wifi (80Mhz) on my iPhone 11 Pro Max when right next to the router? I’m sure my old BT router use to hit around 280+ (on a 300/30 connection).

Ethernet seems fine. It’s driving me up the wall!

By "latest Merlin" do you mean 384.17?
Use fixed 2.4 GHZ channel 1, 6 or 11 @ 20 MHZ. 5 GHZ fixed non DFS channel @ 20, 40, 80 MHZ (try ch 36 first). Your choice to use separate SSID. I am on 384.18 beta1 using SmartConnect. No added apps. USB apps turned off. Stubby set to do DNSSEC. Have a thumbdrive with a swap partition and EXT3 partition for traffic stats. No WIFI speed issues. In fact no issues at all...
