New Around Here
Hello, recently i switched to new ISP tv and internet (250 Mb/s) and i received All in one router/tv/modem device (over coaxial cable). I'm quite unhappy with it - it offers poor wifi range and 2.4 GHz brand is very limited (max speed is 40 Mb/s). Over 5 GHz my speed ranges from 120 Mb/s to 240 Mb/s. No QoS.

It dosen't offer any options at all, I'm able to disable WiFi (disables channels only it has no modes like bridge, ap modem etc) so i thought about purchasing and add Lan-Wan connection to ROG Rapture GT-AC5300.

While configured this way would i be able to get full benefits of asus router features? Or will it be bottlenecked by crappy all-in one device?

I often play online games by configuring devices this way do I have risk of increasing ping?

Since you can't bridge your ISP's modem, you will be running a "double NAT" configuration. This could give you problems if you need opened ports due to the two firewalls.

Gaming via Wi-Fi is never recommended. Latency is an order of magnitude higher and bounces around, even with 11ac connections.

Who is the ISP? From your other posts, it sounds like your a gamer. If so, it would be within your interest to try to replace the gateway with a stand alone modem. Most cable broadband(HFC) ISP in the US use encrypted QAM over coaxial for TV and Packet Switch(VOIP) for phone. If so, you can ask for your phone to be assigned(provisioned) to a different modem then your internet service. From there, you can either buy or rent a telephone modem(depending on ISP) and buy a retail modem for internet. If you do, I would suggest the Netgear CM600 or the Arris SB6183 if broader compatibility is needed. For phone, the typical devices are the Cisco DPQ/C3212 or the Arris TM602G. Before you buy a retail phone modem, make sure the ISP accepts retail phone modems and the model you are going to buy. A bridge gateway can work, but I find it cumbersome since the bridge can be reset sometimes if the firmware is updated. Also, I find gateway firmware is updated less often because of the testing procedures needed for the extra gateway features.
