android phone usb tethering does not work on asus rt-n66w

Should be no difference in USB tethering between releases 47 and 50 (the USB tethering rework happened in release 44 and I don't know of any updates that explicitly would change it). Chalk it up to an unknown patch interaction or just a reboot finally sorting things out.

nothing changed in some of the firmware, but alot changed since android 10 and as more people upgrade to android 10 some devices aren't being detected due to the mass storage device/scsi cdrom and the way the router handles the mounting of the detected usb. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/u...-moto-g-play-2021-potentially-revvl-5g.71533/ is the patch. you can also look into https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wan/wwan/usb-modeswitching for more info. Those having issues may want to consider latest version of openwrt or ROOter firmware which correctly mounts the phones.
