ASUS AC87U doesn't work well with Vizio Smart TV

Try adjusting the netflix streaming rate - login to Netflix on the PC, go to account settings, and you'll see the menu there - likely it's set to auto - set it to a limit rather than auto, and things will work better...
It's actually currently set to high because it really should only require a bitrate of 5-10 Mbps. The stream usually starts out 1080p then gradually degrades until it hits 240p and then stop playing to buffer for a few minutes. The whole point me fiddling around with these settings is that I believe the TV should be able to do 1080p Netflix consistently.

Agreed that it should... what I've seen sometimes with Netflix is that it wildly overestimates the link speed, so tries to get the higher bit rate on the initial stream setup - hence the recommendation to play around with the quality settings on the Netflix Account page on the main web site..
