i've always used 2.4 ch.11(20/40) and 5.0 ch.161(80) without any problems - yet

Excessive Auto channel scanning is known issue with this version. Are you using Auto channels?

AiProtection also consumes memory, in my experience.

That's really odd. First time I've seen the message and auto channel not turned on. The message looks like it changed from channel 5 to 11 and you've always had it hardcoded to 11 as shown in your screen shots?

yes, since october 2018 when i first put this ac3100 into service.
i always use fixed channels to "muscle" my clueless neighbors out
who are usually set on auto by their isp provided routers.

in case it matters, i'm using all 4+4 ssid's my router can host,
each of the 8 ssid's has a unique name and password.

i just wanted to post some additional observations regarding this 2.4 ghz radio ongoing issue;

i noticed when people get home, particularly with smartphones that know both 2.4 and 5.0 ssids (saw this with samsung(ac) and iphone(n)) who use the 5.0 ssid but instead got on the 2.4 radio this triggers that sequence of channel changing errors, but it seems to calm down after a minute.

i also noticed when a fringe device, meaning a distant 2.4 device is having difficulty remaining online with the 2.4 ssid radio, such as an a 20m distant roku that is using dual channel N only this may trigger a that sequence repeatedly over a long duration till the radio fails to work and the router has to be rebooted.

what i'm doing is checking my log daily, and seeing the correlation between when is this error and how long ago a roaming or fringe device rejoined the 2.4 radio, thus distinguish a pattern of behavior so i know when i may need to preemptively reboot the router in order to anticipate such a 2.4 radio failure

nov'13: i noticed a pattern where these errors repeatedly happen when a specific iphone that usually uses 5ghz is using 2.4ghz instead (different ssid). i keep telling my kid to "forget" the 2.4ghz ssid, and only use the 5ghz one, but somehow she keeps using 2.4ghz every few days, which then kicks off a flurry of these errors that ultimately destabilize the radio and force me to reboot the router.
