I had to use the download link provided here, it wasn't found within the router's update check function.
Edit: Seems like everything came up normally after the flash.

Nothing for 6 months, and now 2 updates in recent weeks!
At least Asus is still updating the router. There have been a few times, I thought it was end of support and I needed a new router, just to have something that would get updates as security risks are a lot more common these days than when I started with computers back in the 90's (well the internet). I've used computers since the 80's.
The RT-AX86 has proven to have become a solid router.

This firmware broke my Alexa speakers that were connected together using the stereo setting. They no longer "see" each other. AP isolation is not on and it acts as though it is. Rolled back to Sep 1 firmware and the issue goes away.

I don't have any stereo pairs, but I have the Everywhere group, where I can have multi room music, I can test to see if that still works as it should. My speakers aren't set up in a way that stereo pairing would make sense here.

Yeah, the everywhere group was broken too for me. It turned on and acted like it was playing but only the speaker you launched it from was playing.

I'll dig into this, the multi room groups aren't working either, and, nothing is showing up to create a fresh group from. The big AWS outage yesterday may have also caused issues. I use speaker groups so little now, that I don't keep up with it. All my Echos work normally individually, and they've all recently had firmware updates.

Yeah, the AWS was resolved yesterday (https://health.aws.amazon.com/health/status?tag=snbforums-20) and everything was working fine here this morning right up until I updated the firmware. That's when it broke. Rolling back did resolve it. As far as the Alexa app goes, I see in devices everything is online. However when you go into an actual device and select the stereo pair for example, you see errors in there and nothing to select. I've found over the years that this is how it looks when they are isolated on the network and can't see each other. Something in this firmware broke something...

That's what I'm looking into, instead of just rolling back, looking to see if settings have changed. I've personally never put much stock in Alexa multi room music, it's never been 100% reliable, even when it works, I've had random cut outs, so I've found just using the speaker in the room I'm in the most reliable.

The stereo setup has always been 100% reliable for me. Two speakers in one room, stereo. No issues. I've only ever used the multi room a handful of times so can't speak to that. I looked through the settings on the new firmware and AP isolate was not on for either of the two wireless networks. It sure acts like it is though.

One of the things I'm checking is if I have speakers split between 2.4, and 5Ghz, I had tried to switch all to 5Ghz, but when the speakers rebooted due to power, or firmware updates, they jumped back to 2.4ghz so now according to the requirements, they all need to be on the same WiFi network, AND the same band.

Mine are on the same network and same band.

After the program I'm watching is over, I'll try a power cycle of the router, and maybe a factory reset. If, the only issue on my network is going to be the Alexa groups for the speakers, then I can just wait for the next update, since I don't use that feature hardly at all anymore.

Okay, post back your results. I'm sure they'll fix it at some point. I need it to work though so rolled back.

Well, the increasing frequency of AWS issues, is making me reconsidering dropping alexa. It doesn't matter what condition my router is in, if they can't keep it working on their end, I may need to switch platforms. Mainly because it's my light control. Music I have plenty of options for, and for Audio books I can use the audible app on my phone if I have to, or use Apple Books for audio books.
