ASUS Smart Connect and Aimesh

Just want to get this information out there, when I tried using my new bought RT-AX68U as an AiMesh node for RT-AX88U, the internet system required to use Dual-band Smart Connect for the whole system to work, otherwise, the main router(RT-AX88U) will show the node has a weak signal despite they are placed next to each other. Afterwards, the node disconnects immediately after it completes the AiMesh setup and showed up in the Aimesh system. I have to reset it 3 times before I found out I need to enable the Dual-Band Smart Connect for the AiMesh system to work.

Hope this information helps anyone out there who tries to set up the system. My current version of firmware is 3.0.0.4.386.48631

I haven't seen that limitation on RMerlin firmware.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can upload that 3rd party firmware for this router, I helped my landlord to install this router system so it could cover up to 4800 sqft spaces (And They only have internet cable on their basement's corner). And they have zero internet knowledge and their windows version is windows 7, I don't think they could maintain the system after I left the place. I just turned on the auto-update on ASUS firmware and hope it can keep itself updated without troubles.
