I know how to do it @ForkWNY everyone seems to be missing the point

Not sure if it's different per router type (in my case, GT-AC5300)...to reset a node, login to the web UI. Head to AiMesh > Click on Node to reset > Select "Management" > Remove Node. This effectively seems to pull the node off the AiMesh network by rebooting then resetting the node (same as holding in reset button for 3 seconds). Unless this was a fluke, this was my experience when testing this under the latest GT-AC5300 firmware released a couple of days ago.

I did this to one of my RT-AC68U nodes...removed it via the web UI, which pulled it out of my AiMesh list. Then I was able to "Search" for the AiMesh node and re-add it, as if it was reset. I never used the reset button...once I initiated a removal through the web UI, it appeared to be the equivalent of resetting itself.

Note that this function is absolutely useless if you factory reset your router and don't "delete" your AiMesh nodes before doing so. If you plan on factory resetting your router, I would recommend removing all of the AiMesh nodes first using the web UI, should save you the hassle of using the reset button.

@ASUSWRT_2020
Getting invalid Firmware upload error on my RT-AX88U upgrading from RT-AX88U_9.0.0.4_386_41535?
Also get the same error with trying to upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386.41634.

I could easily upgrade my AX88U from 3.0.0.4.386.41700 to 9.0.0.4.386_41994.
You most likely have a problem with either your browser, either your router needs a reload before attempting the upgrade.
Ultimately a factory reset may be needed, although that's the last resort.

RT-AX88U_9.0.0.4_386_41535 had an issue with the kernel patch. The solution is to export the config file, use the firmware restoration tool to install the firmware and then import the config file.
The firmware restoration tool is on support site or you can click here to download it.

Asus rt-ac86u upgrade went smooth. Feeling a bit more responsive when loading websites on the internet but ill observe further how things will work.

Thanks. How would this process work on an Apple Mac?

Thanks for releasing 9.0.0.4.386_41994 beta. Dirty upgraded 2 x RT-AC5300 from 41535, stable so far for 1hr.

Still have the problem reported before -- Internet gets disconnected when Guest-1 2.4GHz is enabled and devices connected to it.

Thanks for doing this. I’ve always thought it would be nice to have a sticky thread with all the firmware updates. Not all the comments that go along with those (they can have a breakout thread), but just a running list of latest firmware’s by model.

maybe one or two trusted members could keep it updated, otherwise it stays locked.

what about cpu wait and other green features in AC86u ?

2xRT-AC86U dirty upgrade to RC-11 with system reboot...

Power Management Configuration
Functional Block Status
CPU Wait DISABLED
Ethernet Auto Power Down ENABLED
Energy Efficient Ethernet DISABLED
Switch Deep Green Mode ENABLED (status Deactivated)

Temp is around 88C... I expect it will go to 90+C under more load, so I think this RC2-11 is similar to RC2-10 and released 41634. But Merlin suggested 41700 (not seen) has CPU wait fix?... I wonder what that is.

My previous 41634 test:

Edit: A reset was required to enabled CPU wait (lower temp). Fear the dirty upgrade!

Well that is weird! I will revisit the matter starting with a power cycle...

aublumberg,

You can download "Asus Firmware Restoration" from AppStore, it is quite old, but, still working (I am on macOS Catalina). Hope the thread below is useful for you:
