I'm not sure how to open the javascript console to check
ok,I guess I hit f12 ,but I don't see anything or don't know what to look for

Press F12, then reload the page, and try configuring a port forward. Afterward check for any red entries on the console tab.

I'm having a strang issue with the latest build (384.8_2). If i connect to WebGui from any of my laptops/phones. The router throws me out. If i manually reboot the router I get to login. But after login is succeded I'm getting thrown out again. Tried with ethernet cable. Succes. Everything works perfectely. Downgraded to the prior firmware version (384.8_0). Now I can get into the routers WebGui through a wireless connection.

Very strange .....never met this issue before

Merlin , what do you think ?

Dirty upgrade from 348.7_2 to 348.8_2 with no problem.

384.8_2 same behaviour for me with http:/192.168.1.1 access, but htpps://192.168.1.1:8443 works fine.

how long are you waiting after reboot to bring up the login screen?

Maybe clear your browser cache, reboot and wait an additional 1-3 minutes longer.

Updated but it seems router still thinks, their is an update available -

What does it show when you click on it?

Again guys, I am unable to reproduce this on any of my routers here. Do you have any special firewall or DNS setup which could interfere with it? Are update checks enabled on the Other Settings page?

I did factory reset since I had issues with my external drive of 8TB showing up as USB 2.0 in your latest firmware. In ASUS firmware it shows up as USB 3.0. Any idea how to resolve it?

New firmware update icon - is gone - after factory reset.

Dirty upgrade from 384.7_2 with no problems. Runs a site to site permanent VPN with dnsmasq configured to cross resolve names and all remained solid (other end of tunnel is currently 384.7 since not willing to risk a remote upgrade with no ability to manually reboot if needed).

I've got an AC-86U.

With the upgrade to 384.8, it's happened to me twice now that dnsmasq stops sending out IPv6 router advertisements. It happened once after the upgrade to 384.8, and once after the upgrade to 384.8_2. When it happens, dns resolution still seems to work, and dnsmasq responds to router solicitations, but it doesn't send out the unsolicited RAs every 10 seconds like it's supposed to. As a result my machine loses its IPv6 address after 10 minutes.

A reboot of the router resolves the issue. So far, no discernible pattern as to when it happens.

It's been rock-solid for years before 384.8, so I suspect a bug in the new dnsmasq.

The exclamation mark appeared in 384.8 screen before update to 384.8_2 (which is normal), and still appeared for a few minutes after the update and reboot to 384.8_2, then disappeared after I clicked on Network Map in General menu. After that will not appear even after reboot (back to normal).

RT86U
New firmware version check = Yes
Check for new beta firmware releases = No

@RMerlin Hi after installing the latest firmware 384.8_2 in my AC88U I keep getting this warning:

Dec 10 15:33:57 avahi-daemon[14674]: WARNING: No NSS support for mDNS detected, consider installing nss-mdns!

Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.

Same here. Router was routing alright. But couldn't go to login page. Could ssh there but couldn't execute any command. The command just stuck after pressing Enter button. Updated to 348.8_2. Will keep an eye.

Same error for me on the same router. I was transferring some files across to the hard drive connected to the router and after that completed I couldn't access the webui. I could ssh to it but then I lost all Wi-Fi connections and my Ethernet connections were working intermittently. Had to do a hard reboot. Might update to the latest 384.8_2.

Does it matter how much free RAM I have for an upgrade? With the AI stuff, QOS, Diversion, etc, I'm pretty much always hovering at less than 50MB.

I absolutely does matter! I have found that temporarily disabling Diversion frees up enough RAM in order to successfully upgrade firmware.
