RT-AC68P Dirty update from 384.19 this morning before sunrise.
The nt_center processing took about 10 minutes to finish it's job and everything settled down.
Also switched to latest FlexQoS 1.1 development branch with Queue Discipline fq_codel.
Will monitor everything for a while (reorganizing some cloud storage over the next day or two will put quite some load on the router) and report back if any issues.

RMerlin:
Thank you for once again making a great release - I wouldn't have stuck to Asus Routers for the last 10 or so years if it wasn't for your great efforts

It is weird. I rebooted the NAS and it still kept showing the port 2 IP.

Then I unplugged the cable for about 10 minutes and after reconnecting it I can see It was maintaining the port 2 IP.

So I turned off the NAS ... and I can see that the NAS was being shown in the client list even some minutes after it was turned off. So I Updated the Status Client List ... after that the NAS disappeared from the client list. Then I turned on the NAS ... and now it is being shown the right port 1 IP in the client list.

One more strange thing is that when the wrong port 2 IP was being shown in the client list ... the MAC address that was appearing in the client list was the MAC address from port 1 and not the MAC address from the port 2. It was like a mix of the MAC Address from the port 1 and IP address from the port 2. And the NAS only accessible from the IP address that it is not shown in the client list.
Any reason you're not connecting both Synology LAN ports to your network? Or is it due to a limitation of ports on your device/switch etc...?

Upgraded my RT-AC88U.
The WebUI was unresponsive for 90 min.
Other than that everything works perfectly.
Nice update!

Upgraded my 3 AC-86U to 384.19 - went well. Took some time before the UI was responsive as expected.
Time blocking seems to take a looong time before it blocks the devices. But it works for me - not that I use it :)
Does time blocking work just with web pages or also with spotify, netflix, etc?

I bought these, and used some double sided adhesive to attach them to the back of the router. The USB 2 port powers them, so there's not another power point needed. I went with these larger fans, as I tried several smaller ones, but they were annoyingly loud. They are quiet enough I can't hear them at all from 8 feet away in a quiet room.

My temps are 2.4 GHz: 44°C - 5 GHz: 51°C - CPU: 49°C.

I believe I read over on the Asus Official forum area that Asus is aware of the AC86U increased CPU usage (and heating) and is working on the issue. For now just "fan" it. My CPU is at 68C with a cooling fan from Amazon.
Upgrade from 386.1 beta 5 and no apparent issues. I accidentally enabled Lets Encrypt with DDNS and even that worked!
Went into my rubbish bin and found a new el cheapo twin fan laptop cooler. Hooked it up to another find, brand new USB hub and it is keeping the RT-AC86U CPU under 79°C. If Asus fixes the increased CPU usage and overheating bug and Merlin issues an update, that will be all and good. If not I will revert to the previous version.

Should mesh nodes be on stock or Merlin?

Based on what I read from this exact thread, you could set your nodes on stock firmware. You should see Merlin's response in this thread regarding your concern.

Upgraded my AX88U by hard reset WPS and afterwards soft reset....all looking good some temp increase of 5 degrees.

but this is occurring every 7 seconds : Jan 31 14:01:55 kernel: protocol 0800 is buggy, dev eth7

no idea what happening.

regards

Fixed by deleting first guestnetwork and enable 2nd guest network

AC5300 and AC88U in Aimesh config dirty upgrade from 386.1_beta4 to 386.1
Diversion and Skynet
GUI was fine immediately even though CPUs were very active for 5 minutes and then settled back down
Performance still the same with 1Gbps fiber.

Thank you Eric

Excellent work once again from the Maestro. I was really hoping the released version would "cure" the only "error" message which my 2 RT-AX86U's have carried since beta5 ... when I returned from stock firmware.

It may well just be "noise" and doesn't seem to have any detrimental affect ... just offends my OCD ;)!
If any of the experts out there know how to fix ... do let me know. {ThumbsUp}

Dirty upgrade from 384.19 to 386.1_beta5 few days ago, just did another dirty upgrade to 386.1 all seems good so far still.

Temps (celsius)
RT-AC86U - 384.19 : 51 - 53 - 69
RT-AC86U - 386.1_beta5 : 53 - 55 - 73
RT-AC86U - 386.1 : 51 - 57 - 72

My temps are pretty much normal, they flucuate usually by 2/4 degrees depending on room temperature, but normal for me.

Thanks @RMerlin!
Are you using a fan or custom cooling? My AC86U never drops under 80C @23C in the room...

@RMerlin thank you! One question - to you plan to support RT-AX68U eventually? Clarification - not like NOW, but in general - sometime in future?

I did a speed test on my 1Gbps internet and only got ~480 Mbps. Should I do a reset config on router and reconfigure?

no fan or custom cooling, mine is behind tv of all the worst places but restricted space and it warm behind there compared to rest of room. My temps will reach approx 80C in summer months when outside temp is 35c+, i'm in uk and sun hits my propery really bad in summer and can easily reach 40c in my property when we got these really hot summer days/weeks, but most of the year they are what i posted, they do flucuate like i say though by about 2/4C depending on room temp.

I did a dirty flash from 384.19 on an AC86U. Everything went smooth and seems to be working well. I didn't have to wait for the web interface to come back afterwards. I had done a full wipe and rebuild on it a week or 2 ago, so that might be why.

@RMerlin I still have that issue with the offline clients list (DHCP Server Page) showing devices that are online. The image below is what I'm referring too. The second and third image is where the devices are shown online and working on the same router. As you can see the AX88U has record of them in some areas but not the client list. This router has been fully reset and hand programmed for Beta 5 and then flashed to stable. The issue has been bothering my router since the first 386.1 alpha. My AC68U access point shows all devices connected in the client list on the network map page.

Cosmetic issue with display of LAN5 on AX86U. It reports "Unplugged" on both Network Map and Tools pages.
I am using the 2.5G port of the AX86U as a 5th LAN port running at 1G (NOT 2.5 G), because "why not?".
It appears to work just fine, while reporting "Unplugged".

Did ASUS assume that it would only be used for 2.5G links (and therefore report it unplugged if it isn't running at that speed)?
I don't have anything running at 2.5G to determine if that would report "Unplugged" or "2.5 Gbps".
Is using the 2.5G port for 1G somehow unsupported? It seems to function well (though I haven't seen posts about it).
Presently running 386.1. I also noticed it in beta5, but had not tried it in previous betas (or with stock, since I would never dare).
NOTE: I am also presently running in AP/Aimesh mode. with a AX58 connected to it, with an old AC88U as my main router and I was finally going to move the AX86U as my main router with 386.1. There is some small chance that this won't show up when I make the AX86U the main router (but I doubt it).
