Hi. Somthing strange I noticed. I have flashed latest merlin firmware to my AC66U and AC68U - 380.67. I have 2 modems as backup - E3372S and E3372H. I have experimented hard with several versions of firmwares for them (hilink and stick) and have noteiced, that AC66U works perfect with stick firmwares and put modem to NCM mode, and AC68 with stick modem works only with pppd.

MerlinWRT 384.12 two years later... E3372s on RT-AC87U works with only ppp in stick mode...
Checked options:
A1,A2;10,12,16,A1,A2
FF;12,16
FF;12,16,5,A,A1,A2
working now FF;10,12,16,A1,A2 with microSD(Entware)

Just want to confirm, my Huawei USB modem model E3276 works perfectly with my AC68U with 384.12 stock and/or Merlin firmware.

it works for me too… the main thing - how? Hilink with NAT or Stick with ppp - bad variant.
Need Stick with ndis/cdc-ncm
example:
Code:
[ 291.377004] huawei_cdc_ncm 1-4:1.2: MAC-Address: 0c:5b:8f:27:9a:64
[ 291.378482] huawei_cdc_ncm 1-4:1.2: cdc-wdm0: USB WDM device
[ 291.379550] huawei_cdc_ncm 1-4:1.2 wwan0: register 'huawei_cdc_ncm' at usb-0000:00:1d.7-4, Huawei CDC NCM device, 0c:5b:8f:27:9a:64
[ 291.381355] usbcore: registered new interface driver huawei_cdc_ncm

What's the speed cap when using PPP (non-HiLink) mode? My router is an RT-AC68U.
Out of curiosity, is the speed cap related to the cpu power?
Thanks

Hilink 70-90Mbit/s, PPP/RAS 15-20Mbit/s

PPP/RAS appears to be a bit faster than that, at least in my case. Here are a couple of tests on different networks:

I have to say that most of the times it's lower than that though, about 25-30 Mb/s. This is the night time performance. During the day it's sometimes even slower, but I wonder if I should be blaming the relatively poor LTE network around here.

Switch (flash) modem to HiLink and check, this will be the answer for you.

This is exactly PPP/RAS and not NDIS/CDC?
What is the model of the modem LTE, if it can 300Mbps, but then it's real.

Yes that's what I should do, but I'm too lazy and it's already a huge improvement over my previous 3g connection. ;)

Firmware version 380.70 = no NDIS support.
The modem is a Huawei E3276, so 150Mbps.
