AX88U Pro Kernel Version

Hello,

I just noticed that my AX88U_Pro is on kernel version 4.19 which will go end-of-life in a couple of months. Are there any plans by Asus to update the kernel?

It will almost guaranteed stay at the same version for the life of this product.

AlmaLinux 8 will get security updates until 2029, despite being based on kernel 4.18 which has been EOL since 2018.

Bottom line: kernel version doesn't matter. Critical security fixes can still be backported if they are worth the effort. I've backported one of two of these myself for kernel 4.1 in the past.

Kernels never get upgraded, as they are tied to the SDK, and they are heavily patched by Broadcom.
