AXE16000 only ROG?

Is ROG the only available firmware? No regular Merlin? Btw it's down to 285 on Amazon right now. I like the quad band and I'm upgrading from the AX11000. I like having 2 5G radios.

You have it. There was a choice with Asuswrt-Merlin some time ago, but RMerlin announced ROG UI version will be discontinued and going forward RT UI version is going to be the only available for ROG models.

It's cheap, but will reach End-Of-Life faster than the newer BE-class routers. It's 2022 model device.

RMerlin, the developer of Asus-Merlin, did not include ROG support for 3006.102.x firmware.

supported in the 3006 firmware series, as maintaining
two separate interfaces is too much extra work.

From the Asus-Merlin 3004.388.8_4 release thread where the developer responded to a question asking where is the ROG version:

They should be included with the next 3004.388 release. 3006.102 releases however do not, as ROG image support was never included in the 3006 firmware releases.
